it's disposable!

I went to the dentist today and was kind of surprised. Practically everything was disposable. The toothbrushes that you use before your appointment then throw away, the part of the x-ray machine that your mouth is on, the little tub that holds the toothpaste, the tip of the big electric tooth brush, the list goes on and on. My point is that we are able to reuse things, so why shouldn't dentists? Unfortunately, it doesn't really stop at just dentists. I was just finished getting a shot when I realized that the syringe was just being thrown away. I mean, it wasn't exactly sterile anymore, but if the syringe was made a little bit better, it probably could be sterilized. I wonder how much plastic and metal that would save.

HI :)

hello people!
This is Anna and Andrea. Andrea is this shade of green, and Anna is this shade of green. Anna that is soooo blue. This is Andrea and that was Anna. I am green Anna is blue! Fine, I'll be blue. Anyway, now we are going to tell you about all of the interesting things on the blog. Some interesting things about the blog is that we have links to other ecofriendly blogs or sites such as: two girls go green, a site for eco friendly shoes, eco friendly soap, and more. If you have other sites, you can email 1 of us. Also, we have a list of noxious weeds. If you can think of any other lists, polls, or links that have to do with being green, email us your ideas! Red is Finn!!!! :) Anyway not only are we working to live in greener ways but we are tring to save the bees which are rapidly dieing. 1 out of every 3 bees died last winter!!! there is a quote from Albert Einstien saying that if the bee is killed then man kind only has four more years to live! Some ways that you can help the bees is by planting Foxglove, Red clover, Bee balm and Joe-pye weed. Thank you and stay green!

another invasive weed is english ivy!!!!!! :(

Invasive weeds

We are being taken over by invasive weeds (also known as noxious weeds). Noxious weeds are plants that were taken somewhere ,that they weren't native to, that take over that place. Here is some stuff on one very annoying plant. Its kind of like the Trojan horse. It looks all nice and innocent, but really it's there to TAKE OVER. This plant is called Herb Robert. Its scientific name, just in case you're wondering, is Geranium robertianum. Its a geranium. It has a nickname that describes it perfectly: stinky bob. Pretty, isn't it?

Is this not the awsomest pen? The brown colored part of it is made from recycled paper, the little green things at either end are made from recycled plastic, and the thing that is used to connect the pen to your pocket is made of wood! Go Cascade Land Concervancy!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the plastic pens that everyone uses will lose popularity and pens made from recycled materials will be what everyone uses!

two girls go green

I was looking to see if I could find our blog on google, and I found another blog: Two girls go green. Its two women's "adventures of getting eco-friendlier." It's really awsome.

No more club lunch this year

The school year is almost over. I don't think we'll be having clubs tomorrow, so that means this club is over for the year. That does not mean that we can't still do green stuff! Remember, it's the little things you do that count. One peice of paper saved doesn't seem like very much, but if everyone at our school saved just one peice of paper, thats a lot of paper! Also, we can still keep posting!

What can you do for bees?

The best thing you can do is not use pesticides, escpecialy when bees are doing their nectar pollination thing. You can also good nectar sources like red clover, foxglove, bee balm and
joe-pye weed! :)

Club lunch today

We didn't really do much today during club. The only person to bring a book was Deepika (yay Deepika!!!!!!!!!!!), so we decided to do something different with the book. We wrote a note to stick inside the book that said that the person to get the book should read it then leave it in their locker with a note inside it for the incoming 6th grader.

Hey people, just letting you people know that we should start taking care of bees that we see on the street. Bumblebees, honeybees, and all other bees, but if its long and narrow, with and kindda looks like a figure 8, then dont pick it up. Its probably a Yellow Jacket, and they can HURT you really bad (no from experience). I know this is Finns topic, just giving out a waning for people who ahven't heard the anouncement (although there aren't many). SAVE THE BEE! BE GREEN! GO L-DUB! 6TH GRADE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have any questions, talk to Finn, Anna, and/or Andrea.

From the questionnair I just sent around, 1 out of 11 people thought that dark orange is the same as brown, 2 out of 11 people thought lemons and limes taste the same, and 2 people wanted to do something having with the garden instead of the book thing that we had planned to do, so we are going to do the book thing tomorrow. BRING BOOKS PEOPLE.
